How Men Wrap Gifts

I came up with this idea while purchasing a 5 gallon bucket and lid for my wife to use to brine our Thanksgiving turkey.

What I came up with is how to wrap Christmas gifts....man style.  Not only would a bunch of these look really cool under your tree, but they are "peek resistant".
The "Homer" buckets are available at Home Depot for $2.60 each, or in a pack of 3 for $7.02
And the lids are available for $1.18 each

Simply put your gift(s) in the bucket with any necessary padding/packaging material, and snap the lid on using a rubber mallet.
The lid snaps on, leaving a lid that should only be able to be removed by pulling the plastic band off.  That's why I say they are "peek resistant", because if you have a kid that is savvy enough, he/she may run to Home Depot for more lids, so I guess it depends on if it's worth $1.18 per gift for him/her to peek.
You can take it a step farther too, and get different color buckets from different retailers.
Cost wise, it's about the same as a gift bag and/or paying to have your gifts wrapped (2 of the current men's favorite ways to wrap gifts...the 3rd being the sack it came in).

Not only is Sears the original seller of Craftsman tools (favorite of Real Men everywhere), but as a company, they have actually chosen to do the RIGHT thing.

Companies are required by law to hold the position for an employee that has been deployed by the military.  Sears takes it a step farther, making up the difference in salary, benefits, etc. so that the employee is able to keep their family in the lifestyle they are accustomed to...eliminating even more unwanted stresses to the Soldier.
I researched this thinking: "Yeah right, a big company caring about something other than stockholders and profits?", and my research yielded much surprise. It is 100% the truth.  I verified it through 3 different sources, all of which are very credible.
So please...show your appreciation for a company with a heart filled with something other than greed.  If you can, do at least some of your shopping at Sears.
Spend your hard-earned money with a company that cares about it's people, not oce that only cares about it's profits.

The greatest pumpkin carving patterns to come along so far.  If you buy one of these kits, and actually set these out for Halloween, send me pics, I will post them here.  Extra credit if you live in a pretentious neighborhood.

Built Ford Tough

After reading the article which was published on the Manitoba Parkland website, watch the video.  A true testament to just how tough Ford trucks are.  The air conditioner that is suspected to have caused the fire...I am guessing was built in China.

PRESS RELEASE:
Kelleher Ford, Dauphin Manitoba
On Saturday 2011 September 10 at approximately 1330 hrs, the Dauphin Fire Department responded to the report of a structure fire at 36 – 2nd Avenue North West (Kelleher Ford) in the City of Dauphin.

Upon arrival Firefighters found thick heavy smoke and large flames extending from the office space in the North West corner of the property; there were no injuries reported for any occupants of the building as the staff evacuated the area immediately.  Two firefighters were treated at the scene by EMS; one for smoke inhalation and the other for heat exhaustion.

The fire spread extremely rapidly, due to several factors; the showroom and sales office space were of a wood frame construction, the contents within the building were extremely flammable, and the 30 km westerly winds fanned the flames.  As the wind was spreading the fire along the roof, it also blew smoke directly into the City, causing issues with numerous businesses and homes.

Firefighters remained on scene for twenty one (21) hours to ensure there was no chance of the fire reigniting.  The structure suffered heavy smoke, heat and fire damage; as a precautionary measure, the building had to be demolished due to the fact the service bays had several layers of roofing materials.  The fire was trapped between the layers of roofing, and spreading east.  In order to prevent any damage to neighboring buildings, a backhoe was called to the scene to begin demolition at approximately 0200 hrs.  “We knew by 0100 hrs we would not be able to access the burning roofing materials in order to extinguish the fire”, Fire Chief Cameron ABREY stated.  “Because the fire was burning the roof from between the layers, we could not send firefighters onto the roof itself.  The safest option was to call in the backhoe and begin demolition.  This way, we were able to prevent the fire spreading to Acklands Grainger to the East.”

ABREY also reported, “Given the 32 degree temperatures Saturday, we knew the fire would be extremely hard on the firefighters.  Working a fire like this, in these temperatures can quickly take their toll physically on the firefighters.  We have to rotate crews in and out, keeping everyone hydrated.”  It was immediately decided that additional firefighters would be required.  Gilbert Plains Fire Department was requested to assist via the Provincial Mutual Aid System.  “We are extremely appreciative of Gilbert Plains Firefighters assistance.  They arrived on scene with several members and worked diligently alongside our members to remove equipment and tools from the service area and assist with the fire extinguishment.”  The members of Gilbert Plains remained on scene until approximately 2100 hrs Saturday evening.

As the fire is a major loss to the community, the Office of the Fire Commissioner was requested to attend and conduct the fire investigation.  It was determined a window air conditioning unit was the cause of the fire.

The Dauphin Fire Department would like to thank the community for their support during this long incident.  Food was brought for the Firefighters throughout the day and night; thank you to Dave and crew at Showdra Meats, Bruce and crew of Irving’s Catering, Kathy of Kat’s Korner CafĂ© and the numerous others that dropped off supplies.  Also thank you to Drozda Backhoe Services and Stirling Enterprises for their assistance to the Fire Department with their heavy equipment as the demolition prevented the fire from spreading to any neighboring properties.

This video makes me proud to say: "I buy American", and very proud that one of the two factories that build the F-150 is located less that a mile from my home.  Eat your hearts out all you Jap Crap driving pussies!

It's no secret that I love Harleys, so it's only right that I feature HarleyDavidson.com as the website of the week. The new 2012 models are out, featuring the 103 ci. V twin.  The new V-Rod Muscle is completely badass, and built less than 10 miles from where I sit.
Here is where I buy my bikes.... The largest volume Harley Dealer in the midwest, which means bikes as far as the eye can see.

Man Up...

Every once in a while, I will shamelessly plug a product.  Not because I get paid for it, but because they are my products of choice.  Just being my product of choice alone will not earn you a coveted spot here on the Man Blog, they still must do something above and beyond, such as Axe having the balls to do a "balls" commercial.

Everyone who knows me can tell you that Miller Light in a longneck bottle is my drink of choice, and their latest series of commercials fit perfectly into the man blog. One of my favorites is this one. Click on the "read more" link to view some others, they are all pretty good.

You can see several of the current Miller Lite ads on their website....which is pretty cool all the way around. Featuring their latest national and regional promotions, merchandise and more....check it out: MillerLite.com
MAN UP!

No one likes dirty balls...

Not very often will you see me endorse a product on here unless it is a product I actually use, and I do happen to like the Axe line of products.  The following video is of a press conference taking place at the Axe headquarters, and is one of the best ads I have seen.  Nice to see a company show some "balls", step outside of the box, toss politically correct out the window and make a video like this....Well Done Unilever!

It's all about the respect...

OK, this commercial is just a hair over the top, but the point remains the same. Harleys just demand (and get) respect. What the video doesn't show is that the husband probably left on a rice burner.

True Story: I pulled up to a local store on my $5,000 Harley, and a guy pulled in right next to me with about a $20,000 Suzuki Hyabusa.  After conducting our business, and coming back out to our bikes, a bystander informed him that some guy had been letting his kids play on the bike.  I asked if the kids had messed with mine, and she said: "No way, he even told them not to mess with it, because it was a Harley".

There's proof I have seen with my own eyes:  The cheapest Harley demands more respect than the most expensive jap crap.
